Google Pixel 8A overview

 

Google Pixel 8A is a new budget phone from Google, last year's phone was good and it priced around INR 45,000/- in India and roughly 500$ in outer market.

As an Indian consumer INR 45,000/- is not cheap and it’s a mid-range phone let’s find out, is A8 worth your money?

• Main camera 64MP, f/1.9, 26mm
• Video 4k@30/60fps and 1080p@30-240fps

• Android 14
• Ip76 dust/water resistance
• Comes with wireless charging
• Comes with 4 different colors with mat texture

 

Google is slowly upgrading its hardware to compete other smart phone in this price range. Design is same as other pixel trade mark of all other phone companies. Just a little more curves on edges and that only noticeable change in design in Pixel 8.

It been upgraded to tensor G3 processor this year it was the last year flagship processor so now we can get a picture that this device is fairly capable of doing hard tasks and 8A comes with 2 storage options surprisingly, if I am right this is the 1st time they come with 2 different storage options.

Display is little improved and its using Actua display brightness is 1400nits (HDR) and 2000(peak) is it really noticeable is questionable? And screen refresh rate in now 120 hertz (Hz). Which is an improvement from last year 90Hz.

But size is same as before 6.1inchs and we can say the size remains the same as last year, design of selfie camera is same position so nothing is new is going on here. Same optical finger sensor/reader.

Well this isn’t something revolutionary because people uses phone casually may not want to increase screen refresh rate and the good reason is it drains battery a lot and only gamers can fully utilize it.

Let’s talk about 8A features

• 8A comes with built in AI functions
• It will be getting 7 years of updates
• And has really good cameras

8A will come with many good AI function like call assist, Magic eraser Audio, and google features. What I really like the most is Google promised 8A will get 7 year updates like security, operating system (OS) update and features and most of the up to date gadget lovers already know Pixel provides best cameras to its phones.

Conclusion

Here is my concern about it, you can still buy last year Pixel 8 for slightly higher price than 8A, which was top of the line last year. Which has better quality display, better cameras and better battery. 8A is little expansive when I look pixel 8.

I can say it’s a good mid-tier phone but if you have a budget to get Pixel 8 then go for it or wait for few months to get price drop.
